I was just wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me with configuration?

I have the latests versions of the launcher and VP files and the P4 optomized executable.

My system:
P4 1.6Ghz
Geforce 2 MX
512mb of RAM
Windows XP

Im just having a hard time deciding which features I should turn on, what res and bit debth, etc.

I tried turning on everything that seemed like an improvement and I got some massive slowdown, especialy when beam weapons were fired. So yea, if anyone has been using a similar system and knows which features are most important and most ballanced, that would be great.

If you haven't set any parameters to the launcher, then it should have worked.
Perhaps the video card is just "small" for the game.


IIRC (I'm not at home to check) I use this params:

-spec -glow -pcx32 -jpgtga -stats

Perhaps it'd help you to use -img2dds

Look at http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Command-Line_Reference
It could help you choose the correct setting.

Don't use pcx32 - it's an absolute memory hog.
