Hi guys,

It's great to see FS2 is still going :)  I started out way back with Descent 1 & 2, played over Kali etc.  I loved Freespace even more, I even remember completing the FS1 demo countless times when it came out

I'm currently having a bash at the Derelict SCP release, but I'm having a few problems...

Warning: Unable to load starfield bitmap: 'nebulH3-main'!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Is what I am getting when I use the 17th of May build that Kara built... it's coming from the mission where the "Cypher" destorys the AWACS that you are tasked to escort.  I dont know more about it as I can't get more than a few minutes in before FS2 crashes to the desktop :(

My folder structure is:

c:\freespace2
c:\freespace2\derelict
c:\freespace2\mediavps

I'm using the 3.6.8 Zeta files if that helps, on a Radeon 9800 Mobility card with the 6.15 catalyst drivers, DX9 in OpenGL mode.  I can't use Direct3D for some reason.  I'm using an OpenAL.dll file I found lurking on the internet... its version is 0.951  :blah:

I found an error log in the FS2 folder:

Does anyone have any pointers?

Anyone? :(

A search of the forum turns up a nebula.exe file, but the link is broken  :(

Actually, at a glance it just looks like an image file is missing from the Inferno campaign, but I'm not certain. I'm not part of the Inferno team, but I suspect one will be along shortly and take a look :)

I would suspect that he's got the old Nebulae from somewhere. The ones that don't include the H ones.

Where did you get them from PotzUK?

Thanks for the replies guys :)

All I've done so far is install FS2 fresh and update to 1.2, Install the DerelictSCP campaign from here with the voicepacks, the MediaVPS (3.6.8 zeta) and the May 17th CVS build...

Ah. That's your mistake then. Derelict SCP obviously requires Lightspeed's nebulae and since you don't have them it's complaining. There should be a link in the Derelict release thread.

Aye, there is a link - but it's broken :(

Does anyone have a copy?

Incidentally, I'm also having a few crash-to-the-desktop issues with the 'Just another Day 2' campaign... but from what I've been able to play so far it's hilarious!

The crashes don't seem to be totally random though, a lot of the time they happen more when I'm using the 'Target next hostile' action, especially if I use it multiple times

I've found a set here, http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,29593.0.html but it only goes up to set 6, I believe I still need sets 7 and 8?

Assuming they go to \derelictscp\data\effects and not \mediavps\data\effects ?

You could probably get away with either to be honest. IIRC the stars.tbl includes all the standard backgrounds and nothing else will conflict.

Putting it in mediavps has the advantage of making it available to other campaigns that might use it.

Just remember that Stars.tbl goes in the table folder not effects.

Cheers m8y.  I've put them in the mediavps data structure, but I'm still after the 7th and 8th sets which appear to have the files I need.

Does anyone have them?  I can put them up on my webserver (pyroport.com - anyone here recognise it? :))

You could try if this set solves it... it should have all LS nebulae in dds format and also the required stars.tbl
Do not meddle in the affairs of coders for they are soggy and hard to light

Cheers Wanderer :)

It has a nebula.vp in it, nothing else.  I'll try putting it in the mediavps folder and see what happens
