Is it just me, or does that communique have an aura of 'fake' around it? I mean, either Jack's just repeating what he's said before word for word, or someone's cobbled together this letter out of sentences from his other letters... 

I'm assuming it's true because I'd imagine that a) the sender would be checked and b) if it wasn't, you'd see him parading around shouting 'conspiracy, conspiracy!'.  I guess, for the sake of humanity all round, I should hope it's fake, because the only consequence of that would me looking a bit of a gullible twit (which I'd imagine to be far less offensive all round).

People die all the time. Several thousand died while you were reading this post, and all equally tragic deaths as the guy who killed himself, though I dare say more pointless. Honestly, should we hold a wake for him? How about the millions that die every year for lack of, say, clean water? Sorry to sound callous, but death is not news. If it was, everyone would be mourning 24/7. On the other hand, the press issuing intentionally misleading statements is, since their job and very function is to inform the public, and if they fail at that, allthough I admit this instance is trivial, then everyone is screwed.

It occurs to me.... if you took Jack Thompson, replaced 'game' with Quran or Torah, and equated killings by people with mental illnesses to religious belief, and then started lawsuits against the mosques/synagouges and publishers of hold books - what would the media reaction be?  I don't think it'd mirror how the whole games issue is treated, somehow.
