Problem with Sound and Audigy 2 ZS
Hi guys!  Thanks to everyone who has helped me with my various questions to date!  I have been amazed at how quick things are responded to on this board!

Anyway, I have a new problem, not sure how it started.  I had been playing FS2Open up till a few weeks ago, then put it aside up till now.  I'm using the 3.6.8 VPs in their own folder (like before). I grabbed the latest build (dated 2/2/06) and had updated my Audigy 2 ZS drivers from the OpenAL beta to the new official drivers.  Everything up to this point has been going smoothly.

But now FS2Open locks up hard at the "Choose Pilot" screen.  I know it's sound related, because if I choose "no sound" in the Audio tab, it runs fine.  I uninstalled the latest Audigy drivers, and reinstalled the beta ones which worked before.  Still got the same problem.  Went back to the previous CVS build I was using, same problem.  I uninstalled FS2 retail and all the "Open" stuff, then reinstalled all of that.  Same problem.  Basically, I got the machine back to the way it was when FS2Open WAS running great, and it STILL locks up!  I can't figure it out, cuz my other games play fine with the sound enabled.  Someone help!

Re: Problem with Sound and Audigy 2 ZS
hi,
mhh i have a Audigy 2 ZS too, but i have not the newest driver installed.

but maybe the drivers overwrite the OpenAL driver.
try the driver from http://www.openal.org/ and install it.
maybe your problem then fixed.

Hm.  I got the similiar freespace locks up with the new creative drivers, but the problem ended after I ditched them and went back to the betas.

Mehrpack, that advice fixed it.  Don't know why my going back to the betas didn't work.  Thanks for the quick fix!
