Lots of problems with FSO [RESOLVED]
Hello.
I have lots of problems with Freespace 2 Open (version 3.6.7). First of all, when strating the Launcher, a window pops up that says "Unrecognized command line parameter" and some random gibberish. Pressing Ok will start up the launcher, Cancel causes another window to appear that says "Failed to read flag file".
I saved the mediaVPs to a folder "mediaVps" in the Freespace 2 directory. However, the launcher complains about the folder name containing spaces. This is because my Freespace folder is named "Freespace 2". I can't rename the main folder and moving the mediaVps-folder to somewhere else doesn't work, because the launcher can only load folders that are located in the Freespace 2 main folder. Any solution to this?
And then the main problem: The game doesn't run. It gives a lot of error messages that say stuff like this:
Quote
Error!
Error: weapons.tbl(487):
Error: Required token = [@Laser Color:], found [@Laser Glow: 2_laserglow03]
in weapon: GTVA Rapid Laser.

File:parse/parselo.cpp
Line: 551
[This filename points to the location of a file on the computer that built this executable]

Call stack:
-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------

[This info is in the clipboard so you can parte it somewhere now]

Use Ok to break into Debugger, Cancel Exits.
Any idea what the problem might be? The regular version of FS2 works just dandy.

Re: Lots of problems with FSO
Basically all your problems rely on the location of the files in order to run FS SCP

After a clean installation of FS2 you need to install the SCP media files and launecher+FSO executable in the main Freespace directory. Do not separate the media VP's from the ones in FS2 retail.

Once that is done be careful to select the right CVS build that will support the files in media 3.6.7

You should download a version from late December (I think as from 24/12/2005 should do fine)  in order to be able to run 3.6.7 media with the latest patches (Turret alignment fix...etc...)

That should probably solve your problems running the launcher and starting the SCP version of the game.
I feel like an exile......

SnakeEyes's solution is going to give you problems if you want to run other mods though.

Why can't you rename your Freespace 2 folder?

I gave him some pointers on IRC, a simple reboot fixed it. Windows or some Windows app was using the folder(god, I hate that word. directory! directory!) and forbid the renaming of it.
