Some graphic issues
So something about graphic related probs that i have encountered lately... I got the with Kara's 20060517 build (problems seem to be related to taylors graphic things, no probs in Kara's 20060509 build but first problems noticed in the builds that followed it (like taylors 20060511)

i) Deathscreen gets warped in different way than before.. now it seems to be fully rendered - unlike it used to be (atleast for me) - but somethings in the screen got streched in y-axis (models, explosion) and some other things seemed to render / remain as the should (stars, backgrounds)

ii) Screenshots work in funny way. After the first screenshot has been taken, the screenshots that was last to be taken remains as background in 'esc' or 'pause' screens.. This behaviour dissappears and return to normal after i bring up and then dismiss the 'esc' screen ( = hit esc twice).

So should i mantis these or are they known already?

Re: Some graphic issues
Both issues are known, and at least the warped-on-death issue is already in Mantis.  I did make changes to it, as part of an in-progress fix, so that may be why it's different to you now.  That part of the fix that is already in CVS is a good speed boost but the rest has to be debugged a lot more before I commit it.

I'm not sure if it's in Mantis already but the screenshot issue is known.  But that too in an in-progress code upgrade.  Screenshots shouldn't be showing up in pause screens, though I have an idea why it's doing that.  The code in question should be fully upgraded either this weekend (if I don't get too busy with other things) or early next week.

Re: Some graphic issues
Some other graphic probs (with 20060517)... graphics are normal if i load only a single mission per gaming time. That is if i exit from the FS and then restart the new mission there are no problems at all. If i however try to run two different missions in a single 'FS run' i get problems like these in the second mission

These effects (like unrendered ships) seem to be independent of the mission used. So playing the second mission is kinda difficult as i'm not too good at reading barcodes.

Command line: -mod FSO, ,Mediavps -spec -glow -jpgtga -mipmap -nomotiondebris -2d_poof -img2dds -dualscanlines -targetinfo -orbradar -rearm_timer -ballistic_gauge -nobeampierce -ship_choice_3d -3dwarp -warp_flash -snd_preload -nosound -env -alpha_env -fps -window  -ambient_factor 50 -fov 0.60

Also tested both with and without of -img2dds, no use. Happens on both debug and normal builds. No errors with debug.

Such problems were not seen with 20060509

I have the exact same problem and I had some feedback in this thread:

http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,39842.msg810850.html#msg810850

Just out of curiosity, what's your spec? taylor mentioned that this problem is rather old and it might have something to do with a specific graphic card/driver combo. Also, I could *fix* this by turning off environment mapping, but it's unlikely to be directly caused by env mapping code. My guess is that env mapping is stressing out the card, raising the temperature and finally causing the artifacts. You can try this by immediately restarting a mission (you shouldn't see anything weird) or restarting after some intense fighting (you should see the artifacts).

Re: Some graphic issues
I must be blind.. i checked that thread few times but managed to miss the posts... too much pretty pictures i guess. Main difference is that i got the HUD scrambled as well. I'm using ati radeon 9600 pro with 8 x agp. Restarting the mission normally didnt do much good. Bringing up some other windows while playing fs and then dropping those away fixes some of the probs but not all of them.
