Bomb / cluster missile explosions killing FPS help.
How do i disable these explisions, or roll them back to a pre open form. Everytime a single bombs goes off or a cpa ship goes boom these explosions destroy my fps.

Cool but wont that remove all the other nice sexy effects? If so then ill do it anyway, my machine should be able to handle it though, 3gig proc with 9600 pro card and 1 gig ram, maybe i should kick it a few times?

Nope. The shockwaves in mv_adveffects are far to CPU and GPU sucking to work even with something like that. The only real solution is to extract the medium quality shockwaves from the mv_effects VP so that they override the ones in mv_adveffects. Not certain of exactly what you need to do for that off the top of my head.

Not ALL the nicer effects -- just animated textures, beamglows; plus the nicer versions of explosions and backgrounds.

This post by Shadow0000 on the Shockwave file names sticky is what you need.  Download the one you need (Low is fastest; Medium doesn't look bad at all; you might be able to handle High but it's hardly necessary) and open it.  Extract two of the folders inside -- effects and models -- to your data folder.  (Don't bother with tables unless you want fighter shockwaves; even then, note that the tables can interfere with mods).

Also this will help, More sane version of the animated beam glows.

Remember that these are where you put them -- you'll probably need to delete them when a new MediaVP set comes out.
