Searching for an alternative for FrontPage
Background story:
My boss needs to upgrade his ancient website. But his FrontPage is trapped in his old computer that is so ****ed up I'm just itching to format it. Ofcourse the goofball has lost the CD FrontPage was on and he is still hoping to get the FP transferred from his old rig to this new one. Thus he is afraid to let me loose upon the old rig that is now sitting in the corner practically unuseable, because that would mean the death of the FP installed on it.

Anyway. Is there a free and easy to use website tool I could get him? File transfer won't be a trouble, but he needs something to make the site with. Do you know anything that would help? I havent been involved in site design in 6-7 years, so I am a bit clueless.
I don't want to crack anything for him (yet) beacause that would be unethical and he propably wouldn't dare touch it because it would incinirate his computer (and store) with a killer virus. Or something.
I'm not saying anything. I did not say anything then and I'm not saying anything now. -Dukath

Very good find.
The catch is, propably should have mentioned it before, that it should be in finnish.

He'll propably have to spend a few euros for the Front Page. Serves him right :drevil:

Does "Tarmo Lähikauppias" tell anything to you?
(ja on yks suomen parhaiten menestyvistä "oikeista" pikku kyläkaupoista)

And don't worry about me. It's just a summer job. The store is 900 meters away from my home, and the pay is good considering I don't really do much in there. From what things look like now, it's me who ends up upgrading the site. :sigh:

Dreamweaver > Frontpage
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Indeed, I'd recommend notepad.

But if he is really desperate, and no-one who uses anything that isn't IE will view the site, he could use Word....

No no no, don't say things like that, bad Kasperl, you're making the internet worse by even suggesting it!

Re: Searching for an alternative for FrontPage
I know, but since I don't know Finnish, I'll never see the site.

So, not my problem.

Notepad comes with Windows :D :D :D

Dreamweaver is the best I've worked with.  Great piece of software.  But I find myself spending alot of time in the code editing section these days.
