"You will travel far, my little Kal-El, but we will never leave you, even in the face of our deaths. You will make my strength your own, you will see my life through your eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father, and the father - the son."

Best movie ever for Marlon Brando's archive footage.

Also, the rest of the movie was pretty cool.

Eh, it was OK... It was certianly better than X-Men 3, but thats not saying a whole lot. A lot of people were hoping this movie would do for Superman that Batman Begins did for Batman. I don't think it quite did that, but it was sure a worthy effort.

Couldn't possibly do the same as Batman Begins. It would need 3 craptastic movies starring Val Kilmer as Superman in between the Reeve originals and itself in order to do that. It just doesn't have a deep enough abyss of utter disgrace to climb out of.

I thought it was great. The opening retro special effects with the text was a good addition.

Why does everyone hate Batman Forever?

Now, I'm no fan of Joel Schumacher, or Batman and Robin *vomit*, but actually liked Batman Forever, quite a bit, cause it kept all the campiness under control. Val Kilmer actually gave a half-decent performance as a serious Batman, to balance out Carrey and Tommie Lee Jones. It was like the Adam West TV show, over the top, but not so over the top that it degenerated into a vauldville act like Batman and Robin did.

Leave the Batman and Gayhole discussion for some other time.

This thread is a tribute to real men, like Marlon Brando. That guy stomps everyone's ass the moment he lets his voice out.

The writing's on the wall, Vaudaville's dead and George Clooney killed it! ;)

Anyway... Spacey did a great job as Lex.

"You're not a god Lex."

"No, gods fly around in blue suits and don't share with mankind."

...and Krypton going nova in the beginning. I guess I don't have to make my Superman movie now that the opening I wanted to do has been done now :p

I prefer the idea of Zod unleashing a massive nuclear reaction in the planetary core, causing the planet to turn to Kryptonite and explode.

What if collapsing Krypton's sun was done to power the device to turn Krypton into Kryptonite? ;)

...and yes Zod rocks. The sequel should be 'Zod Returns.'

If they do, Lex should be the one to kill him.

C'z for the series, Lex has more potential as recurring nemesis - so he should be the most evil and most capable.

Plus, it'd bring in an element of "Luthor saved the world" making it harder for Superman to openly oppose him and would show that he was capable of killing a Kryptonian.

I think he's too gay, personally.

They should've given it to Clancy Brown - even if only as a nod to the Animated Continuity.
