I just need to ask a question or two, first off, im playing the mission where you have to defent the ship filled with meson bombs. the one where you  kill the jump gate. and i get through that and get a message from the commander and then im sent right back into the fight but i have to defend the escaping transports.

Well, i defend them as much as i can tell the sun goes supernova and i have no clue what to do from there. ive flown into the gate and jumped out in sat there iv done nothing ive tried to kill everything. all i get is a movie shoing the suns death and then im sent back the the main screen.

So, my question is, am i doing something wrong or is that the end of the game? cuz if it is it sucks, i dont even know wht happened to bosh and his etac thingy. plz help.

You should also get one of two monologues from Admiral Petrarch either praising you for your efforts or passing on news of your death in Capella after seeing Capella go supernova. If you are getting those, then that's it - the campaign is over. Yes, it ends abruptly, and the loose ends were supposed to be wrapped up in FS3, but that's not about to happen anytime soon, unfortunately.

Still, there are lots of fan campaigns out there for you to play now. Some even describe what might happen post-FS2.

You playing Retail (CD?) or downloaded? If you're missing the other movies they're about somewhere.

Check the movie filenames if you are not running CD version and make sure IIRC that two of those are named as endpart2a and endpart2b instead of endprt2a and endprt2b (.avi)

Jonus,you have just finished the main FS2 campaign. There are many featured ones here,for starting I reccomend Warzone,then you can download INF R1 and Derelict,ITDoH etc.etc.

How about not overloading the poor guy? He just finished the campaign, at least have the decency to put links or some sort of description about the campaigns you're mentioning.

Derelict's one of my personal favorites. It takes place immediately after Capella in a GTVA border colony.

Inferno takes place much later after Capella than Derelict, specifically after the jump node to Sol is rebuilt, and features all-new ships, weapons, and factions. The download seems to be unavailable at the moment, as I believe the team is redoing the first release.

Into the Depths of Hell follows a theoretical GTVA fleet that escaped the Capella supernova through Gamma Draconis. Quite a good concept, but I remember it being riddled with bugs.

Yep. Wanderer has hit the nail on the head. If you only see the sun explode at the end of the final mission and don't hear Pertrach's monologue it means you've got the wrong filenames.
