I don't know if there are any Pink Floyd fans here, but apparently Syd Barrett died on the 7th of this month. He wasn't with them for long, but I think the band did some of its best work during his era, and they certainly wouldn't exist without him.

Here's his BBC obituary.
"Mais est-ce qu'il ne vient jamais à l'idée de ces gens-là que je peux être 'artificiel' par nature?"  --Maurice Ravel

Though IIRC Nick Mason was the only guy to stick it out, I've always been lead to believe Syd was Mr Pink Floyd.

I got The Wall a few months ago. Didn't really like it, not even sure if it was Syd barrett era, but I always take a while to warm-up to stuff. Had the Ramones' Anthology for about 6 months before I really started to like it.

Ho, ho, ho, to the bottle I go
to heal my heart and drown my woe!
Rain may fall and wind may blow,
and many miles be still to go,
but under a tall tree I will lie!
