National sysadmin day
http://www.sysadminday.com/

Any of you guys wishing this was a holiday? :D
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Re: National sysadmin day
I do. I really do.

Re: National sysadmin day
Same here. But as usual, unpaid overtime was involved.

I'll probably end up going in this afternoon too. Our backup system recently got a revamp (typical management knee-jerk reaction to nearly losing lots of very important data) and I'm still working the bugs out. Ye gods, I hate Windows.

Re: National sysadmin day
I don't think our sys admin is ever off holiday..........

Re: National sysadmin day
Must be good at his job, then. My plan is to write Perl scripts for every task I need to do on these Windows boxen and automate everything. Then focus on monitoring the hardware.
