Hey what is the most stable fred build? The build that went with 3.6.9 Release 5 package keeps crashing when I go to the campaign editor and when I make a mistake and try to remove something in the background editor.  :wtf:

I use 3.6.9 FRED and it works just fine... except one mission where I had a VERY large number of ships, it kept crashing whenever I saved.  :D
It did save the changes before it crashed so I didn't deem it anything more than a minor annoyance.

I'm pretty sure I've fixed both of those issues. Let me check.

The campaign editor crash happens the second you start the campaign editor. No error message just a crash to desktop right? And the background removal bug happens when you click on a background to delete it, it doesn't disappear and then you select the last background on the list.

Yep. Definitely fixed both of those issues and the first one should have been fixed before RC5.

See if RC6 has a copy of FRED. If not I'll explai how to work around those two bugs or simply post a new build of FRED myself.

I have this problem too.
I'm still using the RC5 build of FS Open(I need speech). The same is for FRED2 Open.
Can I use RC5 FS Open with RC6 Fred Open?

RC 6 FRED will probably work with RC 5 FS2_Open. I don't think anything was changed except internally between those two builds.

Just save a mission to another file name and open it in RC5. Worst that could possibly happen is a crash to desktop and that's fairly unlikely cause like I said I don't think anything much has changed.

The only thing that could cause you problems is if the new alternative backgrounds stuff is saved to the mission file.

Uhm...for it's better to maintain the RC5.Deleting backgrounds may give problems, but they can be evaded.

Karajorma:I've in mind another campaign.I want to start it today. It's momentarily called "Colossus",and describes a series of events happened between th first deployment of the Terran Juggernaut to its destruction.I need some canon issues. Are you available for a rapid idea exchange via PM?

Usually I'd say I'm too busy but seeing as how I've been trying to get someone to make a campaign based around the Colossus for the last 4-5 years go on then. :)

I wanted to start with the Colossus entering the nebula chasing the Iceni, then doing the Sathanas thing etc etc but it would be a 100% Nebula campaign, not good for me.I then decided to start it shortly after The Sixth Wonder.I wanted to create some alternative battles for the Colossus, like Feint! Parry! Riposte! (the Colossus has 60 wings inside itsfighterbay, why the 242nd had to do the job for it?) and Endgame(the same thing
I have free time, considering that Chapter 1 of Steadfast is almost completed and we need to wait Dysko to proceed with the work.
