Whenever I use any build other than Kara's 20006/05/17 build, the background nebulas and planets don't show up. I still get the enviroment maps, though. I am using all the 3.6.8 media VPs.

Current flags:

game_flags = 40-ambient_factor 8-spec_exp 1.1-spec_point 1.1-spec_tube   -spec -glow -env -jpgtga -mipmap -2d_poof -missile_lighting -cache_bitmaps -targetinfo -orbradar -ship_choice_3d -3dwarp -warp_flash

Builds I have used:

Kara's 06/05/17 - only one that works
RC 5
RC 6
A mysterious "r-20060725" build
One of Goobers builds ( I forget which one)

EDIT: there is a strange 'ls_neb1" VP in the media VP folder, trying without it now.
EDIT2: no difference without "ls_neb"

That VP is, I think, Lightspeed's nebula effects. They look much prettier than the original nebula effects.

The reason that it isn't working with the 3.6.9 RC's is that you need more VP's () in order to get them working. Ummm... hold on I'll find the thread.... here it is. You need the mp-710 files (not the alphapatches).

As to why it isn't working on any build save kara's.... I'm at a loss. I think someone earlier had a very similiar problem, can't remember what Mr. Freespace Oracle told him to do....

I told him to get 3.6.9 RC 6 and the latest patches

Do you replace the VPs with the MP stuff? because I just put it in there along with the originals when I tried it a while ago.

EDIT: nevermind. It appears that I had some stray nebulea effects in the DATA folder, and only KARAs build liked them.

Well, now that the problem is fixed, you don't have to close the thread, but you can spam in it.
