I seem to be getting this error message whenever I try to run an install based on the InstallShield system:

Description: Incompatible version of the RPC stub

Setup will now terminate.

This is preventing me from installing many of my programs. I have only noticed it recently; can't remember seeing it until about a week ago. Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

This has really become a big problem recently, since it is preventing me from installing almost all of my downloaded files. (i.e. Detonator 23.11 drivers, 3DMark 2001, etc.) The way things are going right now, it looks like I will have to backup all of my files and completely nuke the hard drive, followed by a fresh Windows install, but this is kind of a last-resort option. (and I don't have the time to reinstall everything right now anyway) Does anyone here know something about this and/or how this issue might be rectified?

Thanks for the information guys; I'm going to give the oleaut32.dll file change a try. (good thing I have a working copy of the file on my old computer)

It took a bit of work to get Windows to read the fixed oleaut32.dll file but I finally got it to work; time to go install those latest video card drivers...
