I just don't understand enough about this to work out why this is happening.

When the ship I have built is destroyed, the game crashes to desktop. No error, no warning. POP and it's over. I thought it was down to my geometry in the model I had built, but now I am not so sure.

what can cause this to happen?

I have built the new mesh and it converts just fine in Max using the plugin. The thing opens up in PCS and/or Modelview, and all seems fine. To get it in game, I have simply swapped the fighter0.pof line around to have the name of the new ship. I have changed NOTHING in the stats.

The ship loads up OK in the hangar view, and the game starts fine in my test mission with one of these to shoot at. You can shoot it, and it takes hits like it should..until you actually damage it enough to destroy it. Then the game crashes.

Suspecting my mesh to be at fault, I converted over the 'sample' ship and built a POF from it. Put that in the same way, and it did the same thing! So..it wasn't necessarily my geometry.... but something is wrong and I don't know what

Can one of your POF experts give me any pointers?

what did you use to convert to pof? Have you added shields yet? Is your mass ZERO? Do you have an abundance of intersecting polys?

[EDIT] Just noticed you have a basicly duplicate thread right under this one. Please relegate all postings to THAT thread as the discussions are relevant to the issues you are having and let this one die...
