Saracen Bomber ready for D/L ((beta))
this little sucker is ready for beta testing...i have not found any problems myself, if you folks do let me know!
((i know the seats are empty...i'm still working on people models...and that cross bar in the cockpit is kinda annoying...i might shift things around a little...but then again who said being a bomber pilot was comfortable and easy?))

yeah...i'm not thrilled with the file host either....ITS FREE!  thats about it. when i get every thing all nice and finished i'll ship off the whole pack to Hades Combine, i just dont want to send off incomplete stuff to one of the heavy FS download sites. but yeah, have fun with the little beast! any glitches let me know.

Well I tried it and I must say I liked it! Sluggish but powerful. Three things got on my nerves though. One, the rapier seems ridiculously underpowered. Especially when grouped with those kickass vulcans and mass drivers. I guess it's a little extra firepower when you triplet link them but with limited ammo it just seems like a waste. Also, the sledgehammer's little pods, while cool, were somehow translucent. I could see right through them and gaze at the BFG within. Lastly, the mass drivers and rapiers had a bit of a problem where you wouldn't be able to fire them for a few seconds after selecting them. Does this have to do with the animations. Is this intentional? All in all, great looking and totally sweet but needs a few tweaks. Good job! It's a lot better then anything I could have come up with!

the rapier is a little underpowered... it was meant to be a 1st gen rotary cannon, i've got plans for nastier ones, but you know i do think i'll perk up its stats a little. trying to smash a myrmadon takes alot of hits. but as is the rapier is just a default... a lot nastier things typicaly go in instead.
now the see through issue is weird... i guess i'll start with the obviously stupid question  :D
was the sledgehammer selected as weapon during this issues? is it persistant throughout the mission? actually if you can, post a screeny. i just played with it on mine and there was no issue...PCS2 doesn't show any graphical glitches hmmm, later on i'll download the rar and try using the uploaded model...maybe that damn file host screwed something up.....
as for the delay, the rapiers take a second to "spin up" befor firing, and the massdrivers wont fire untile the gun have finished moving for the most part, so yeah its intention to avoid seeing somthing retarded like a mass driver shooting forward while the gun is pointed up.

hmm...aside from the fact that all the bad guys will seek you out with prejudice and harbor pure hatred for you the weary bomber pilot...its a cake walk.

Bomber and fighter pilots always claim that the other has the easy job. One such arguement during the Vietnam war between two pilots on the Forrestal (one an F-4 driver, one an A-6 pilot) went something like:

A6: Oh yeah, you guys got it easy. There aint no groundfire at 23k feet. You just push a button and boom... do you even see your targets?

F4: See em?? Are you kidding? If you think it's so easy, you try crushing your balls at 7 g's close to black-out while Charlie is tryin to gain your inside and see how YOU like it!

A6: Whatever.

F4: Whatever nuthin! All you do is flew straight and sweet with even g, drop yer load and turn right around. Yer back on the deck and showered before I even finish the first leg of my CAP!

A6: You think it's easy??? I got three letters for ya a-hole: S.......A.......M........

Something like that. It's posted up on a board at the Navy's basic aviation school.

All of these external weapons have me thinking: If I had more time, I would re-do the [V] bombers and fighters that have visible external guns to accept these primary models........

Maybe you should model the weapons that are in the campaign! YA!  :nod:

funny you should mention that...i actually have plans to do that...something to show up when using a stock gun or else its just the firing void of mystery.
but yeah, the weapons that got released with this model are prety tried and true, i've been using them ever since i first started using PCS, in fact some useless history for ya... the stormfire is the oldest weapon on my mod list and the first model to get shoved through PCS (even befor the cube of death) i just now gave it a complete model and updated model.
as for the rest i'm still playing with the tables to get them right so in the future some more will be released, but there are a few i'm hanging on to for now  :D

great idea; have SCP code in a new thing that makes it so (depending on table) they're be primaries stickin out; just like missles, cept these dont move.  :drevil:

i thought a recoil flag or tag for weapon models would be cool. the missiles lurch back when they fire, so why not primaries too? maybe set up an entry somewhat like this:

$weapon model recoil:    YES  ( yes or no)
   +recoil distance:           distance the model recoils  (maybe set this to a number from 0.1 to 1)
   +recoil speed:               speed model recoils at       (speed in mtr/sec)
   +recoil return speed:    speed at which the model returns to its rest position.  (speed in mtr/sec)

yeah, thats what id like to see for both primaries and secondaries in a future build

Titan...? Are you simply asking for visible primaries. cause SPC already supports it, I never tried it when it came out until Nukemod however.

Ya, I was thinking that several ships (the Herc, Uly for example) have primaries that are at least partially exposed. The quality of the ships could be increased in the models were re-done so that these areas were actually empty bays in which modeled primaries would be mounted when they were selected. The weapons would be at least partially visible, as the generic gun barrels currently are, and would represent what was actually selected.

If the the SCP already supports that, then it should be even easier than I thought.

BTW, where can I get that fighter? Robotech mod?

No it's a Super Sylph from Yukkikaze (model 2, by G.Y.), I released it in the Celebration of FS thread months ago but the DL link is expired now.

As you can see I merely used it as a test to where those machine guns would actually appear from where I placed the firing points on the pof so later on I would go back and tweak them back and under the wings to make then look more natural. I quickly got sidetracked by other things.

Depending on how it looked them I was going to suggest models with alt features like either bases/mounts/pylons on ship surfaces or wings so in the future weapons would appear there when you matched up firing points when POF-ing.
