TIE Fighters and TIE Interceptors kill *** . TIE Defenders kick ALL asses.

Shields, 4 laser cannons, 2 ion cannons, missle lauchers that can hold either proton torpedoes or concussion missiles and speed that is faster than an A-Wing.

That's why it's called a super-fighter... The T/I is the only TIE that I *accept* It's fast and heavy armed, just as an interceptor has to be, (unlike I'm fast but can't scratch a TIE Bomber A-Wing)
The TIE Fighter can only impress with numbers, a single ship is nothing but a targeting practice for Rebel pilots.

TIE Fighters are still very, very deadly.

Yes, when you have many of them. But a single TIE against a single A/B/X/Y/whatever- Wing would almost ever loose, unless there is a REALLY good pilot sitting in this TIE or the Rebel ship is piloted by some game AI...

If I was in a T/I vs X-W matching, I'd pick the T-I. T-I outmaneuvers X-W, once they get past that forward pass (all it needs is some easy corkscrewing, and a hope that the enemy has no conc missiles, to evade the threat, avoiding the relatively slow laser bolts) it pulls up behind the X-W and well bye X-W.
A-wing: A-wing  has only 2 lasers, and it takes at least 3 to destroy a T-I in a single hit. Still, this is a more even fight than the X-W.

B-W: It's a bomber/heavy assault fighter. It loses, unless the T/I pilot is stupid enough to get in front.
Y-W: Like the B-W, except worse.

I think the E-Wing and some of the newer fighters are where the T/I fails..but that's what with have the T/A for.
Damn, I need to play XWA again.

I agree with you. I was rather talking about the standard TIE Fighter, that is about as maneuvrable as an X-Wing, but without shields and only half the weaponry of an X-Wing.
