First off I would like to say hello to everyone on the forums.

I’ve managed to scrap together enough information to get my mesh in to Modviw32 and save it as an .pof, but am now confused as to what to do from here. I’ve been searching various web pages and have only found links that no longer exist or pages that tell me what I need to do but not how to do it.

If some one can point me to a tutorial of what to do after my mesh is a .pof I would be thankful.

I’ve tried to post some pics of my progress but I keep getting “The upload folder is full”

places i've gone too:

Welcome aboard!!!!

I'll try to help but I'm an old skool modder and there are better newer ways of alt4erign FS2 so while my info will work, it's woefully out of date. :D

First,  is your mesh textured?? If not pls go back and cover it with a temp texture (even paint object works just so your mesh is assigned a texture slot you fill with basically anything).

Second your mesh will be difficult to manipulate in Fred and in game unless you make a copy of the texture as a 8 bit PCX file.  Otherwise your ship will be invisible (same as if you typed "invisible" in a texture slot to make certain parts not seen)

Third, you need to alter an existing table file or add your own custom one. (unless you already added or imported a shield mesh, make your shield entry 0 (zero) otherwise for testing ships will fire beams through your ship, this is a bug I discovered as the game has to damage a shield first that isn't really there :D)

Fourth, have fun! If you get stuck after this let us know! This should be a helpful link:

Thanks for the link looks helpful. Yes my mesh is textured with a standard gray mat. I just wanted to see something I made running in the game engine.  :)

Put your .pof in teh models folder, your texture in the maps folder and in the tables open the .tbl file with notepad and under the Ulysses copy it and rename the entry (whatever name you want) and down in the "pof file" part, replace "fighter01.pof" with the "name.pof" of your mesh (no quotations)

then in FRED make a test mission and click on the ulysses pictured and choose your ship then make it wing alpha and save the mission.

That should get you going (plus the Fred walkthrough in your directory should help)
