Wouldn't it be nice that... when one of your pilots die, the others fight less good (as they are saddened) or better (as they want to avange their fallen wingman?)

THe first option should encourage people to keep their pilots from going down (departing doesn't count as morale los).

The other option should encourage people to let their wingman permit suicide (and from what I hear around these parts, They deserve to... But they are not dumb... its thier commander

It's an interesting idea.  It would add a little more interaction with your wingmen.  Unfortunately, unless the difficulty is on insane, it doesn't really hurt the mission progress if Alpha 1 is able to solo the mission.

It would be very interesting for story purposes, particularly when scripting character deaths in more character oriented campaigns.

I've had thoughts in the direction of a SEXP for changing the AI level of a ship. I've not had a look how easy that would be to do yet but if it's easy you have the solution right there. Shove the AI down up or down if people die. You could even have different wingmen affected differently.

In that case you should let those characters say "EJECTING!!!" Instead of let them die in previous missions.

It's pretty easy:

Code: [Select]
change-ai-class
--Alpha 2

Meh. I've always thought that things like that were kinda suspect, especially when you wonder how an ejection seat gets out of a heated firefight without a subspace drive.

Anyone else play Rogue Squadron? Wingmen would never die, only yell "I'm okay but my fighter is down!" in different voices. Kind of weird on the Death Star bonus mission, but then again that whole mission was rather fishy, what with a huge, twisting trench and TIE fighters flying in circles inside it...
Interestingly enough, this signature is none of the following:
A witty remark on whatever sad state of affairs the world may or may not be in
A series of localized forum in-jokes
A clever and self-referential comment on the nature of signatures themselves.
