The only way I can use that little excuse in my story is the hunting, persecution, and utter elimination with extreme prejudice of pirates and trade lane runners who haunt the space in the Homeworld Republic space.
This topic got off track but I don't care anymore. In my story there are 3 perspectives. The first puts you in the shoes of a 1st Fleet Primary pilot who stays relatively close to home and hunts pirates. Eventually the hunting stops after a horrid event. The second perspective puts you in the place of a 3rd Fleet Primary pilot who fights the massive space battles and patrol the extreme expanse of beautiful scenery and witness stuff the 1st perspective could never have seen. The 3rd perspective has you playing as a Jha 'Oull alien performing diplomatic escorts, pirate killing, conspiracy smacking, and stopping mysterious invasions by rogue Taimari admirals. Eventually you Jha 'Oull will be transferred to the Homeworlders as a volunteer pilot for their services and eventually all 3 perspectives will come together and sew the story together into a single whole.
Homeworlder ships are the fastest and most maneuverable with lots of firepower but no shields and above average armor ratings.
Jha 'Oull ships are well armored and very strong with good shields and have acceptable speed but low missile storage capability.
Kharacasian ships have very high forward velocity but low maneuverability. Their strong shields and beam weaponry are to be feared.
Taimari ships are nightmares to combat. They are fast, powerful, and heavily shielded. But they aren't very good pilots.
