Well then lets look at the Fictional Spacetravels...
1.Star Trek...a "Warp" Drive, either driven by Anti-Matter (Federation) or a Singularity (Romulans etc.),which is a small black Hole...I cannot exactly describe this in English...everyone can see the Specifics on a Star Trek Fansite...The slowest is Warp I = 1xLightspeed = 300.000 Km/S,the fastest is 9.9999~ what is about 50000x Lightspeed ,I think...Warp 10 would be the ultimative Speed...the Speed that lets you be anywhere in the Universe at the same Time...so there wouldnt be any Time Delay, dont care if you go to Alpha Centauri...or to Deneb Star, which is about 1600 Lightyears from Sol...
2.Star Wars...Theyr is a Problem with that...this Movie has been made in 1980s...and theyr was the Theorie that if you set up on Lightspeed...you would enter Something like "Hyperspace",which is almost similar to Warp 10 in Star Trek...Lucas had to deal with that Issue in his last 3 Movies...The Endresult was that Ships in Episode 1-3 were moving much faster then in 4-6...but in 4-6 was an expanding Empire...so this is a bit of the Hook over all...
3.Stargate...Well this Solution seems to be the most Interesting one...its the same Technologie as mentioned in "Event Horizon"...where you "fold" the Space, because the shortest Way between two Points isnt a straight Line...you know what Im up to...

...I think if something is possible, then this will be it...its something that Hawkins mentioned in his two very irretating Books about Time and the Universe (yeah it was pretty irretating for me...since im no Scientist...

)...and his Theories about Strings...
4.Babylon 5...Subspacetravel...The difference too the third Option is that you dont fold Space...you enter Subspace at a relativ Point to the Point you leaving it again...but that Point can be anywhere in Universe,as long as Coordinates are set up...This is the Way FS Ships are traveling...or am I wrong ???
5.Spacetravel in FS,WC and Freelancer...via Jumpnodes...i dunno,I think its a mixture between what is "Hyperspace" and the Point to Point travel like mentioned in the 4th Option...+ its Split into inner System Jumps,Sector Jumps and totally Nodeless Subspace Jumps...for a Fictional Spacestory this is perfect...cause it lets you a bride Withband,to actually choose how Spacetravels work...
Now for the real ones:
A Shuttle has maximum of about 20000 Km/H...which is pretty fast...but not fast enough to even get to Mars...
The newly invented "Ion Drive" has a calculated Maximum of about 40000 Km/H...wow really fast...but still 6-9 Month to Planet Mars...
There have been Experiments with a Particle Accelerator...and yes they did it...they moved something with Lightspeed...but that is only a Particle and without any Mass...and of even smaller Size then a Atom...
And finally there are Hawkins bunch of Theories about negative Anti-Matter (the Point where I give up...since Anti-Matter has a negative Status at all...its ANTI-Matter,whilst Matter is positive...)...and the Theories of Wormholes...which I really like...but to be honest, what do you think happens to a Space Ship getting close to a Balck Hole ???...I think the Person inside it will immediatly cancel his Theories, stunned by the shher Gravity thats inside of it...
Oh and a last Question...is there a "medium" Amount of Area a Supernova takes Place ???...and if so,how far is it...1 Bllion Kilometers...100 Billion Kilometers...maybe as fast as half of Lightspeed ???...I dunno...
