Without considering asteroid field limits...are there packages containing asteroid models, many of which are...giant? BSG has inspired me...

not for the main fs2 campaing. check fred and you will see a giant asteroid model. it just needs HTL'ed.

Biggest in there are only about cruiser scale - 250-300m diameter or so. Probably not quite what you're looking for.
