Re: Forum wide poll for all users - split debate
They are not. Besides, what's the point of this topic in the first place? I don't have much appreciation for topics that are posted just because you were bored.

And I don't have much appreciation for you in general.

What's the point of having an off-topic forum, where posts don't count toward your aggregate post-count if you can't post something because you're bored.

Open your eyes... scroll down the topic list in this forum... 95% of the threads, now, and since years and years ago (indeed, long before you were made an admin for managing the bittorrent tracker, something that never really took off anyway) were created because people were bored and wanted to post something.  95% of the threads, and 99% of the posts.

Most topics even in the first page of this board actually have some purposeful or (arguably) meaningful content within them. This topic doesn't. You can post these topics, this is why this board exists. It doesn't mean that I have to agree with jr2 posting one topic for a poll and another for discussion however, one topic is enough. I wonder though, what made you so upset over my own opinion (to which I am still entitled to regardless of my status) considering that I did not even close this topic? Hmh?

And about the tracker. It is not my problem if people did not want to use the tracker even though the option was offered to them, more than once I might add. I have no interest in maintaining stuff that won't get used, a tracker or not.

And just for your information. Ever since I was made an admin here, I have done far, far more administration tasks than I would ever had done if my tasks would've been limited to a tracker alone. And I don't mean forum administration a monkey could do. Do you really think that I, or any other admin for that matter has any obligation to inform you of what each of us are doing? I think not. I've never had the need to gloat with my accomplishments to the public and I still don't, too bad for you if that is your requirement for some appreciation.

Despite of putting a great deal of time and trouble to keep everything running smoothly over the time I've been an admin here, this is what I get from you? I've been putting up with vyper's and several others poor attitude towards me for a long time now, but my patience is running very thin. I am still following the written forum rules to the letter, which is more than what can be said of many others, so you're quite safe from any personal vendettas from my part (despite of what a certain person may think), which is again much more than what could be said from other communities. Worry not, you still accomplished your goal at least partially, for now I have less reasons to tend to this community than I had this morning.

Sure, but as I learned many years ago in a forum far far away, you should make it clear you're passing opinion - not an admin judgement.

I don't think anyone blames you for that... just for remaining as an admin even though the tracker ceased to exist. ;)

To use a great quote from a thread many years ago: "dude if you don't turn huge and green right now..."

Seriously, "putting up with"? :D You imply that you're somehow doing us a favour by being here in the first place, and that we should be honoured you've bothered to stick around. Or is it that you'll somehow take action against those of us who voice dislike for your actions? :p

No, a decent outcome would be you no longer acting as an admin, but still here and contributing in the way you're best at: FS2 material. :)

Do I need to repeat myself?
- Vyper, you are ignorant idiot because you assume that all I've ever done is maintain a tracker. I've been a tech admin from the day one and my responsibilities were never limited to a tracker despite what a public announcement might have said.
- As a matter of fact, I resigned from the HLP administration TWICE, but came back because I was needed.

Seriously, "putting up with"? Big grin You imply that you're somehow doing us a favour by being here in the first place, and that we should be honoured you've bothered to stick around.
- Yes, in fact I've done you at least half-a-dozen favors by sticking around. I've never asked for your appreciation or honor, but reading this kind of bull**** from you or anyone else makes me angry.

Sheesh.  I would think that being an admin would make stuff like this more bearable.  Y'know, the almost absolute power and all.  Why do you let stuff like this bother you, Fury?*

*And now you have two pages worth of reasons why I wanted two threads.  I just wanted a poll, for cryin' out loud.  If I could have locked the replies, I would have.  I didn't want a debate, or a flame fest, or a spam fest... just a nice, simple poll.  In the gen disc thread.  :sigh:  Oh, and before I get any smart remarks, if the two threads themselves hadn't been the issue, something else would have.  Trust me.  ;)

EDIT:  Thx whichever admin/mod split this... :)

Because it discourages people from spamming useless posts to increase their postcount. Spamming won't increase their postcount so there's no point.

Ironically, if people did not care about their postcount, we wouldn't have this problem.

What has "almost absolute power" to do with this? What would I do with the power? Ban Stealth and vyper? They have not broken any forum rules, only pissed me off with their ignorant statements. Why? Because people tend to get pissed off if they have invested a lot of time, trouble and even money into something, only to get **** like this thrown on their face.

And no problem, I split the topic because it was derailing your topic.

I don't doubt you've done other stuff. Never said otherwise. I'm saying that it's not necessarily a good thing that you have done other stuff as an admin...

I am aware of this. Needed, however, is such a subjective term...

... neither I nor (anyone who has criticised you) asked you to stick around (nor wanted it by the looks of things), or to devote your precious time to HLP admin duties.

Besides which, being recruited by the site founders to admin on a site like this should be seen as a privilege, not a chore.

Re: Re: Forum wide poll for all users - split debate
I see. So you say all that without knowing what I may have, have or have not done as an admin here. More than that, I have never seen any reasoning behind your little belittling crusade against me. At least you could've come clear of your reasonings, but apparently that was too much to hope from you. Without further ado, this topic is closed.

Vyper i don't have any problems with you, but when you start acting like an idiot you are making it my problem.

Personally i would have banned your ass a long time ago if I was in Furys position.
