Yup.. just like that...I double ckick on it..and nothing.. it looks like it auto-closes itself immediately..
Tried 3 different builds

I don't understand it - all I did was add another ship to the shi.tbl..and another weapon to the weapons.tbl. I made no other changes to hte FS2 folder.

the ony lother thing I changed was to install ISS (from th Win XP CD) and MySQL Server 2005..

I had a similar problem for a while. Seemed to be related to disk fragmentation. In other words, the more fragged the drive became, the less the FRED builds wanted to work.

The problem seems to have vanished as of late, not that I'm complaining.

Does the corresponding version of FS2_Open work when hitting the same tables? What appears in your log when you run the debug version?

works now... it wasn't table related..

For some reson the process just kept cooking and doing notheing..I had 3-4 FRED3.6.9.exe's running... once I shut 3 down the 4th started working...
