Video conversion question - HELP PLEASE

Okay, so I have to edit some videos for work, and I'm able to get them into .vob format off the DVDs they're on, but the program at the office for video editing won't accept them. Is it possible to convert the .vobs to a more common format? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to get this project done ASAP. Thanks guys.  :)
