If you're British or Canadian, colour is the way to go. You Americans are just too lazy to add the "u".

They are not lazy that is just how their English is. Not all countries that have English spell words the same letters. GET OVER IT.

Besides, we could just as easily say that the rest of the world is inefficiently wasting time, pen/printer ink, and page space by inserting a letter that isn't required for the word to be pronounced as it should be.  Quick quiz: how do you pronounce the letters 'o' and 'r' placed next to each other?  Now, how do you pronounce the end of the word "colour"?  Notice something?

(And I'm offering a free sarcasm meter to the first person who tells me "but English isn't pronounced the way it's spelled!!!1")
