explosion modding, BtRL to SCP, how to?
After giving the BSG a shot I soon discovered that the ship explosions look exactly like what I always wanted them  to look like. So I tried to port them to the SCP...unfortunately with no result.
first I extracted the files (dds ones) to my data/effects folder, then I edited the fireball.tbl in tables to match the filenames (ABexpxxx instead of expxxx) so still it does not work. I asume ther is some ani over dds preference. Now, do i need to convert them to ani and if so how or do I have to extract my adveffects.vp completely and remove everything referring to the original explosions?

Did you also extract the .eff file?

yepp!

as I understood should the files in the data directory override ther vp s but apparently  that does not happen, so my only clue is either a ani over dds preference or a build incompatibility since the BtRL mod usess .tbl tables while  SCP3.6.9 uses tbm.....

If you're using the mediavps, you need to put them in /mediavps/data/effects instead of /data/effects.

Yeah, Thanks... I figured exactly that out in the meantime when I created an own mod folder for that... Still it takes me through endlesss error messages concerning missing abexp_xxx.anims... however it works...
