What to do while in Montreal
Hey everyone... well I'm in Montreal and I'm actually wondering what there is to do around here without a car. I'm on West Island and greatly lack talent with French... so, is there anything to do around here?

Only speak english and watch them get upset.  Play spot the separatist.  eat poutine, love poutine, have heart attack and die cause of the poutine.  get hit by falling debris from Olympic Stadium.  Go to Toronto for a $20 round trip (7 hours by bus one way, but worth it).   go to Quebec City, its pretty.  find Just For Laughs and see some comedy.  make a sign and get a ticket for it not being in both official languages...French larger then the english of course.

lots of things to do in montreal....yeah...

Let's start on that... I've already did the english bit at several restaurants (everything from Tim Hortons to St. Patricks Pub in Quebec). I've played spot the separatist while being a "stupid american". I've never had poutine, though... maybe that's something to get tomorrow (er... today). I don't plan on receiving a crushed skull (or any other part of my body) by falling debris. I already have been in a car for ~4 hours to Montreal so I don't feel like going to Toronto. I've been to Quebec City (where I was a stupid american for a while). No comedy except for our own routine--myself massacring the French language and my mom and her boyfriend trying to decipher it (they both "know" it, though both suck compared to locals). Don't worry--I took a year of french (enough to say hi, bye, and order a little bit of food) but not enough to do much else.

get drunk?
Impossible--they won't serve me alcohol for another 502 days, 23 hours, and 1 minute.

Re: What to do while in Montreal
not true, the laws in quebec are a little wacky.... I got fairly messed up in grade 8 after a chugged glass of wine followed up by a 24 of pepsi.  A small community in north west quebec will remember me as "that crazy english guy"

oh, i just remembered another couple of games.  first, count the ratio of coke to pepsi.  maybe its changed since i was there last and there was not a coke to be found.  second, ask people where the phoques can be found.  (phoques (i think thats the correct spelling) is the french word for seals, and is pronounced in a manner thats similar to a well used curse word.)  when asked in english, the look on peoples faces can be amusing. "excuse me sir, but where can i find some phoques?"

oh grade 8 was a silly time  :p

So I've heard... you can get order alcohol as a minor. I don't like soda so I won't do the ratio thing... and we already went to an aquarium so it's too late to ask about the "phoques".
