Well, here's the log from EA... I also have the e-mails between me and Rob if anyone wants to read them (I'll remove his address etc from them like I did below).

I bought BF2142 off of eBay from someone who played it a couple of times and didn't like it; auction is here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330160526999&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=014(If that doesn't work, just search for item # 330160526999 in eBay).
Now, I guess he already registered the game if he played it... how do I register it? I've tried everything pretty much... do I need to send him a message and have him un-register it? Let me know of any info you need.
Thanks,
Josh
PS The odd thing is, I only got this game for the upcoming First Strike Star Wars mod *rolls eyes*.

OK, I contacted the person who sold me BF2142... He has contacted you, and also he has given me two accounts of his that he has with you:
<e-mail address removed>
(Which has Persona <persona removed> attached to it)
and
<e-mail address removed>
(Which does not appear to have a Persona attached to it)
He gave me the passwords for both user accounts... at this point, I'd like to ask, "what next?"... I'm really not sure what to do now. I've logged into both accounts using your website, and don't see BF2142 listed as being registered to either one.
My serial number (as Dandar told you) is <serial number removed>

Hi Josh,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
Please know that a registration code can only be used once to register one account. The account registered once cannot be reset. You will need to login to the game using the same account name and password to which the game is registered.
The given registration code had been used to register the account "<persona removed>". In order to release any information in regards to the account or to make any changes to it, we will need to verify the date of birth and the zip code exactly as they are listed on the account.
If there is anything else we may help you with please let us know.
Thank you,
Umesh

OK,
Rob kindly gave me both his DOB and zip code, plus the password to his <persona removed> account. (Which, by the way, does work with BF2142 - I tried it.) I want to move the "<persona removed>" Persona to my account (assuming that will allow me to play BF2142). If it won't allow me to play, then will my changing his account to my e-mail work? And, his <persona removed> persona, can that be moved to a new account for him? See the excerpts from the quoted e-mails below. If I can avoid permanently intertwining with his account, it'd be nice.

Thank you for writing to EA.com account services.

OK, using
<persona removed>, I can play single player and online.
However, it does not appear on my list of personas when I log in as <e-mail address removed>; even though I associated it and it said it was successful, it never showed up in my list! Now what?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Game Support. It looks like the Account: <persona removed> has already been linked to the to the previous e-mail address on the account. This is why you are not able to link it to your current e-mail account name: <e-mail address removed>. I apologize for this inconvenience. This should not affect your ability to play Battlefield 2142 online.
Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Regards,
