Dr. Who. Remember him?
Hey all, a friend of mine is obsessed with that old show, Dr. Who. coincidently, she's gotten me into it as well. I'm sure most of you British users know him :). There are videos of the show on youtube, but at incredibly crappy quality. I'm looking for a website, or a torrent, or something where i can get high quality downloads of the more recent season 27 (the ninth doctor) so i can watch this awesome classic of a show. Afterwards i'll be looking for the rest of the show, but as of now i'm looking for a star wars approach anyway; looking at the later parts in the series that i don't really understand, but that i'll get from the prior episodes. Since season 27 looks really awesome in it's own. I figured at least one of you know a place of where to get these, i've searched all over the place for torrents with no luck. Thanks in advance!
Fun while it lasted.

Then bitter.

My personal favorite is still Tom Baker's Doctor, your mileage may vary ;)

The DVD's have been real cheap, and many of them are worth owning, if you can bring yourself to actually buy something ;)

Yup Tom was great.  Peter Davis was great too.

Definitely a fan!  Been enjoying them on the CBC which has very smartly picked them up and shown them to the Canadian audience.  Loved the cliffhanger for the end of this season as well that was hilarious and brilliant!  No idea how thats going to turn out.

Watched a couple of episodes of Torchwood too.  I think thats trying to be a very different show but its interesting to see what they want to do with it and where its going to go.  Plus I see it has some tie ins with the end of the last season.

It's actually up to the Tenth Doctor, season 29 I believe (Eccleston was good, but Tennant is better.). But, yeah, you've got the right idea: Start with the modern series (27) and just go from there. You might miss the occasional in-joke that only die-hards that have seen everything up to that point will get, but i've enjoyed it immensely and i've never actually watched any pre-season 27 'Who.

Re: Dr. Who. Remember him?
One of the best things about the show is that they've managed to appeal both to the die hard fans and complete newbies. When I heard the synopsis for the episode Dalek I was wondering whether they'd manage to convince people new to the show that what looks suspiciously like a pepper pot should be viewed as the most terrifying alien race in the galaxy.
Of course not only did they pull that off, they managed to do it in a way that didn't spoil the episode for those of us who grew up knowing exactly how scary those things are. :D

So I tend to agree. Eccleston's Doctor is a perfect entry point for people new to the show.

I'm definitely interested in Dr.Who. It's on my list of things to "definitely watch if I get the chance." Sadly, the people who sell the DVD sets have realized they can charge a lot of money for them.

The beatiful thing about Doctor Who is its about time travel.

Ir pretty much doesn't matter when you start watching it, story wise :)

Nope. They're still making it.

That said although I haven't caught any of the episodes judging from the pilot Sarah Jane Adventures is more fun anyway. :p

Oh, I don't know about that. The three modern seasons have thus far had quite a bit of continuity. From the long-term ones like the Face of Boe to the short-term stories like the identity of those little floating spheres in the most recent season finale (loved the reveal, totally didn't see that one coming).

Sarah Jane Adventures was made for children's telly though!  :ick:

You've got to be kidding me, Davis is and always will be a wimp! Only Sylvester McCoy was worse!
