Hi all,

Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying playing FSO. Brings back a lot of memories of the old WC/Privateer days.

I ended up discovering this forum and FSO while hunting for a modern space flight sim to relive the old Wing Commander days (seems the space flight sim has all but died out these days)

I must admit that FS2 went completely under my radar back when it was originally released. I remember the release of Descent: Freespace but didn't take much notice, not being much of a fan of Descent.

Long story short, in the past three days, I've been impressed by the graphics in 3.6.10, blown away by the BtRL demo and very recently discovered FSport - I figured this would be a good starting point before jumping into the FS2 campaign.

So a big thanks to all those working on the project and anyone who has posted on the forums/wiki - I was able to get up and running pretty quickly.

Finally, as a small tip to others, I'm finding the game significantly more playable using a joystick mapped to the mouse via RBJoy. It allows for fine aiming which seems to be very difficult using the ingame joystick settings.

Yes.

Joystick = Master Turning
Mouse = Master Aiming
Keyboard = Jack of All Trades, Master of None.

the community there is alive and kicking and like here, they have made improvements here and there to the WC old games even hav docs on running them in Vista.

Also make sure the check out the WC freespace open mod too :)

Your work is great for FS fans like me and you don't give up...

I just wonder if that strong HLP and SCP community can switch to another gaming project when FS theme will run dry sooner or later...

I only class it as a kill when I ban people for overuse of the beam or talking about getting kills for welcoming newbies. :p
