Sound but graphics freeze
Hey, I know this has probably been answered a million times and the answers staring me in the face but I've been trawling through threads for ages and have finally given up!

Basically I get sound but the graphics freeze as soon as the mission loads it does in on anything using fs2 open.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Uh, what are your computer's specs? If you've been trawling through threads for ages you'd remember to post those. ;)

Sorry, that would have been a good idea.

Running Vista Ultimate 64bit, 8800 Ultra, 3Ghz Quad Core, 4Gb of RAM and on board sound.

Re: Sound but graphics freeze
If there is such a thing on a quad, try setting your processor affinity to... what was it? 1?

I also blame Vista. :P

Re: Sound but graphics freeze
Did you try running the debug build?  If so take a look at the log file in the data directory.  Also you might want to try running in window mode just to see if there are any firewall or other programs poping up that are causing the problem.

Re: Sound but graphics freeze
Well setting the processor affinity to 1 didn't work, the log from running it in debug mode doesn't come up with anything suspicious and there is nothing running in the background that is causing any problem. I'm completely stumped.

Re: Sound but graphics freeze
Two problems I can see: Vista and Vista 64. If you have such a PC, chances are it's custom-built and chances are that you know how to update drivers. If you didn't, do that now. Do you have OpenGL selected in the launcher?

Re: Sound but graphics freeze
Well rather oddly it seems to have fixed itself, I hadn't touched fs2 in a few days and then decided to fire it up and it's working fine now, have been messing around with my pc a lot in the last few days so not really sure what fixed the problem although i hadn't changed any of the launcher settings so it was probably Vista related. Gotta say have had zero problems running anything on Vista up and till this point (Except google earth, and KOTOR and photoshop and anything else you care to mention).

Oh hang on it was probably that xp partition i just added...
