Pretty simple, I like the HLP smileys better than the ones on the other forums I visit, is there any way to use them there or even in IM

Save them, host them, link to them as an image when you want.

I think MSN supports custom smileys, not sure.

smileys there myself, actually. But MSN uses a different alpha then SMF, so you'll see boxes around a few of them.
