Nope, I think just a sign that we are headed back to a more active tornado pattern. This is the second F5 in two years, clearly breaking the long period without one.

Yet another nail in the coffin of anti-global warming arguments.  It's as if they think this kind of weather pattern is normal.

Actually, this particular upswing has nothing specifically to do with global warming.  These sorts of cycles happen when certain weather patterns establish themselves for an extended period of time, though we're still not able to precisely determine exactly why that occurs.  It's just incredible how utterly devastating some of these storms wind up being.

Exactly, someone claiming this was an effect of global warming would be just as crazy as me saying that the very long F5 drought we just come out was dis-proving it. The simple fact of it all is we may be just going back to normal.

UNITED STATES. THIS NUMBER IS CERTAINLY UNDERESTIMATED GIVEN THE
UNDER REPORTING OF EVENTS FROM 1950 THROUGH THE MID 1990'S.
DURING THIS TIME...A TOTAL OF 52 EF5'S HAVE OCCURRED INCLUDING THE
PARKERSBURG TORNADO. IN OTHER WORDS...EF5'S MAKE UP A TOTAL OF ONE
ONE-THOUSANDTH OF A PERCENT OF ALL TORNADOES (0.001%). THIS IS ONLY
THE SECOND EF5 SINCE 2000 AND THE FIFTEENTH SINCE 1980 IN THE
UNITED STATES.
