Program Request skp <-> cob.

Simple, (well, mabey not, I know nothing about programing) I want something that can go from on to the other without having to export in yet another file type.  Also this would actually let me get madels back into truespace.

Does your version export kmz? (Google Earth)
If it does, kmz is just a zip file and inside is a dae (collalda) file that can be imported by most others. Otherwise get the Pro version.

And it's not like there is a lack of good free modelers nowdays- Blender/Wings3D/Truespace. Although harder to start with, they are far more powerful.

After discussion with a lot of modelers, I arrived at the final realization that Sketchup
produces models with a lot of bad geometry. Really I'd suggest just keep trying with another
suite.

I used to be a big Sketchup proponent. Ditch it. It's useless if you want to actually use the models you make.

Sketchup -> LU -> TS. easy.

Not with the .3ds exporter in pro, but nobody listens to me and blowfish  :rolleyes: You can't texture in sketchup, but who cares, it produces perfectly stable geometry if you use it right. an example would be the NTF Choctaw I recently made.

For the record, you CAN texture in Sketchup.

Indeed.  And you can keep your texturing through 3ds.  SU's texturing tools are somewhat limited though...
