questions on a custom weopon
thatx yesterday for all the help you guys gave me on how to get programs to start a mod. My friends and I have started working on a missle today, and we are having a bit of trouble with it. we got it's model down, just can't seem to grasp how to make it actually work. The missle is like a counter measure. it's slow, slower than a torpedo, and it's made to divert an oncoming missle away (or one from behind). I got this idea from and old show of Swat Kats. If ayone could help on telling me what do to actually have the missle do what it needs to do is greatly appreciated.

1: Can't be done at this time

2: Source code for FS2 should be out soon and there might be a way to do it then.


Weapon limits so far are basically :

Different style firing guns, ie changing the bullet/beam's color length speed etc etc

Missile models can be changed, changes in explosions and damage speed etc.


Shrike? That about correct?

Actually, at the very bottom of the Weapons.tbl file there is a Countermeasures section. I'm not entirely sure how any of the entries there work, but give it a try.

I don't know if this is possibly, yet - ie. the anti-missile missile system. Sorry dude

An active antimissile system?  With the exception of bombs, missiles can't be targeted so that kind of puts monkey wrench in the idea.  In addition, AFAIK, all weapons on a fighter automatic fire forwards, so you can't make a rear-firing missile unless you use a turret.

I suppose you could try playing around with some of the countermeasure tags or something. (does it even have any?  Not exactly something I've looked at recently)  But you might not want to play around too much with the countermeasures.  There could be some unanticipated effects.
