They're raising the price of booze and ending happy hours and such, so that YOU will have a harder time getting a drink, so that the police can focus more on real crime instead of drunken shenanigans, when, in fact, they will have a much larger problem on their hands when all the Britons riot since they can't get a pint.

If there's one thing we learned from prohibition it's that making alcohol more difficult to come by is a bad idea.

Of course we've also tried taxing the hell out of cigarettes (making them more expensive) with very little effect on their consumption.
