whenever i try to run FRED is get an error saying that fred is not running in htl mode and to make a shortcut to fred and add "-fredhtl" to the end of the target, when i do this, i get another error saying that there is no directory with this target or something along those lines. i could use some help

I had the same error once to, but I'm not sure how I fixed it. I'll look around, unless someone else knows how to fix it.

EDIT: Are you using FRED open or the retail FRED?

When right clicking the shortcut and selecting "properties", the target box should have a line along the lines of "C:\Games\Freespace\fred2_open_3_6_9r.exe". Change that so it says "C:\Games\Freespace\fred2_open_3_6_9r.exe -fredhtl". Directories will probably be different on your system so don't just copy these over.

Or you could just use a more recent FRED build, as those have HTL enabled by default.

Get the latest Nightly builds. Like Shade says, they have HTL enabled already.  :)
