Help - anybody..... I need routing/NAT help!
Arrgh... my computer is messed up. I'll try to be clear in the explanations:

I have an ADSL connection at home, with the Alcatel Speed Touch Home ADSL modem. That modem is connected to my Win2k Pro computer directly (LAN cable, of course). Also connected to my computer is another LAN cable going to a ethernet switch. All the other computers at home are connected via LAN to that switch. They are all supplied an internet connection by my computer's Win2k ICS.

All the ICS clients are able to access the net with no problems - surfing, Morpheus connects, ICQ works, email downloads - everything. However, my computer has been having major problems connecting to anything except HTTP (surfing), and ICQ. Things such as Gamespy (UDP?), both Morpheus and Kazaa's new program versions, and now even Outlook Express - none of them are able to connect.

A friend of mine (a very busy friend, which is why I'm asking here as opposed to bugging him...) suggested that the problem was in the routing table. I sent him the output of ROUTE PRINT, and he said that I had a major mess there. So here it is, my ROUTE PRINT:

Code: [Select]

C:\>route print

IPCONFIG returns this:

Code: [Select]

Windows 2000 IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter ADSL:

        Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
        IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.200.1.1
        Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.0.0.0
        Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

Ethernet adapter Home Network:

        Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
        IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
        Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
        Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

PPP adapter adsl:

        Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
        IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 212.143.32.216
        Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
        Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 212.143.32.216

Now, a bit of clarification: my LAN IP's are manually assigned; 192.168.0.1 is my computer (the other computers on the network are 192.168.0.x). 10.200.1.1 is the IP of the LAN connection to the ADSL modem. My current IP on the net is 212.143.32.216.

So, the problem is that numerous applications are unable to connect to the net. I could reinstall windows, and that might resolve the problem, but I can't afford to cut of the internet to my family for such a long period of time.

So, any ideas?

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Uhm... I dunno. :p

It is set to use the default gateway on the remote network, does that have anything to do with things?

Nope - I've long since moved the Sandvich Bar to GeoCities - the website, that is. That PHP testbed of mine is still on my computer, which is why I haven't made its URL public knowledge. :D
