Hello,

I have always been a big fan of B5 and have played this mod with lots of fun ( first of all a thank to all the people who have dedicated their time to realize this for us all ).

But now i have an idea for a campaign of my own, but this requires me to create a few special models etc ( i want to do it good and perhaps a little bit different ).
But i have no idea where to start, like opening an existing model ( *.POF ) for edditing etc etc.
So if there are some veterans out there to give me some pointers and the names of the tools to use i would be verry gratefull.
( the point is i have to go to saudi arabie again for site support for my job and there i will have a lot of time to spare ( i am only required in case of a problem ), so a wonderfull moment to work on something like this.
so if there is any one who knows a good tutorial i waould be verry gratefull.

Best regards,
nick

Welcome to HLP!

You can get some, if not most, pointers you need by going through Karajorma's FreeSpace FAQ and the FreeSpace Wiki, both accessible via the links on top of the page. Most, if not all, of the tools you need are actually on the TBP-DVD, in the "Extras" folder, along with a FRED Tutorial to get you started.

your first campaign and you already aim for custom models?

Ambitious (although not impossible). For fredding, check out the Fredding Academy here at HLP.

You might also look through some model dumps on freespacemods.net, you might find all the models you could ever want already available.  There's definitely varying quality to be found however...

Help would be better directed if we knew his skillset and he intends to do.

For POF editing you should look into (should you not have them already in the (FS2 SCP Online Installer DL):

Vpview
ModelView, PCS1, or if it works fine for you, both are trumped by PCS2.
Hard to tell if you mean you are goign to make NEW meshes as most of the "model Dumps" are half or barely worked on ships that need modeling and texturing to get ready for finishing by the above tools.

If you are merely non-visually tweeking existing meshes as "New Varients" then the above tools should help you fine.
