Re: Relentless Progress Update Thread
It might be me, since I just decided to play Blue Planet again, and Vishnan beams aren't showing up either.  Shivan beams show up in Blue Planet, though.

In Relentless, Shivan anti-fighter beams show up; it's the big ones that don't.

Spoiler:
Yes, they want him to defect so they can discover the full extent of the rebellion. You go along with it because you don't have much of a choice. The only other life forms out there are Shivans, and if you tried to join them it would be a fairly short campaign. You'd be shot if you tried to desert.
Spoiler:
Not true.  There are also Vasudans out there.  To be quite honest with you, I refused to engage the Vasudans at all; I just flew away and avoided them.  Handily, there's nothing that requires you to fight them beyond the fact they're trying to kill you; the mission is supposed to fail, so lack of intervention on your part doesn't hurt.   :p
And a big part of my perception that it was impossible was that I kept getting hit by beams that, to all appearances, weren't there.  I just kept winding up, by total coincidence, between the Shivan anti-cap beam emitters and allied cruisers.  Blowing up for no apparent reason tends to give that impression.

Spoiler:
You think the Vasudans would trust you? Think of all the things you could do. Sabotage.... Espionage. They woulden't risk it just to take on one more pilot. The end of that mission triggers when either one of the destroyers gets to a certain hull percentage. Pretty much any mission that is friendly-enemy balanced - that is - could go either way, has triggers like that.
No wonder you're having such problems completing the missions! This is a BOE campaign. There are cap beams EVERYWHERE.

While using the beta version of the 3.6.10 VPs, the beams would show up but no Shivan beam glows would. Now I'm using the official release along with some recent nightly build and all is working fine.

Has this campaign been released?
