Ok the rules are simple, no bashing peoples ideas.
I need help in refining the roel of the Shivans in my fanfic.

This is the OP: All races in the Fs2 universe that used subspace did not realize they way they were using it, DAMAGED the fabric of subspoace over an extensive amount of time.
The Shivans know this, have ways of detecting suspace usage, and go literally ape**** about it and imediate attack any infrastructure that uses subspace. They care not for pre-subspace species...
That's the immutable starting point.
1.) The Capella incident was done for three reasons.
a.) It stabilized a large section of subspace the GTA and VA damaged over the years both species were responsible for separately and together pre and post war.
b.) The Shivans were actually concerned since for the first time in milennia they were actually challenged and lsot scouting/small strike forces to another species.
c.) Bosch. The Shivans ar compelled to attack and eliminate teh GTVA, however just as much as they MUST Defend subspace. They also have a core directive about direct communication. Bosch with ETAK sucessfully began contact with the Shivans and they are now conflicted.
The NTF members are being brought to the nearest "Hive", GTVA space has been both stabilized and simultaneously cut off for now. GTVA may still begin damaging the "local" regions of space all over again, but at least as far as the Shivans are concerned, they are CONATINED for the moment.
Thus the backstory begins...
I need to refine some ideas on How and WHY the "Shivans" became the guardians of subspace?
What were they before the ravages, evolution, or just obscurity of time changed them into what they are now and follow a few simple directives instead of havign a real "culture" as opposed to a 24/7 duty.
I was going to go with a radical premise that the Shivans we know were at one time part of the same species that became "The Borg" (Species 0). Due to a difference in ideology (much liek the To'kra and Goa'uld). There was a split and a war.
The "Borg" faction wanted to use their goal of assimilation to conquer the universe, the otehr faction simply didn't (this didn;t make them good, jsut different).
During teh civil war dimension travel was discovered. The anti-conquer race was loosing and used theri discovery to flee teh newly created "collective". Their biggest fear was that the queen would find out how they traversed subspace to a new home and follow them. Thus teh ban on technologies that disrupt subspace in that manner.
Fast forward milennia. The Shivans used assimilation sparringly as they preferred biological forms at first. Then slowly became more machine. They also began losing most of theri culture over time. They eventually forgot thier way and reverted to a few core directives as they were now almsot as bad as their ancient brethren (justnot going out fo their way to assimilate cultures, they stuck relatively close to home.)
Problem was other races advanced and began to use subspace travel... The Shivans had long mastered ways of using subspace that would not put strain on it or use jump nodes that no one else could.
Sensing danger, they reflexively began annihalating any species they came across using subsopace if they detected damage. The had lost teh will/care to communicate long ago and no species ever successfully did so besdies.
As they killed off more races, occasionally they got stronger by assimilation, but never real ADAPTATION, that was a trick learned only by their other universe brethren.
Shivans reach their technological "peak" 100,000 years ago as far as the FS2 universe is concerned...
Now, is there any way I can refine this or make this better?
