Anyone here familiar with Asus Xonar sound cards?
I've been having some issues with a Xonar DX. I'll copypasta my post from the Asus boards here. Their boards are really slow, I figure I might get better help here.

I got a Xonar DX for Christmas and so far I've been pleased with the sound quality; it's a big step up from onboard sound. The problem is, I don't have surround sound in certain games anymore, specifically FEAR and Shadow of Chernobyl. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

As I understand it, this has to do with the lack of DirectSound support in Win7 which is supposed to be fixed by the DS3D GX feature. However, I only get stereo sound out of the games mentioned whether the GX feature is on or off. In FEAR the options for hardware mixing and EAX are grayed-out and can't be selected at all. I've tried using the Vista drivers as well as the Win7 drivers and it makes no difference.

In research I've found that people seem to be doing okay with getting surround sound in Vista using the DS3D GX, so is this just a case of bad Windows 7 support?

And this is using analog speaker connections, not the SPDIF.

I guess zero replies means "Sorry, no," but I'm gonna bump this anyways, just once.
