I keep having trouble with the sound in certain games in Windows 7. This has to do with Win 7 no longer using DirectSound, thus preventing hardware sound in some games (or something like that). Some interim measures exist from Creative and Asus, but they're imperfect at best.

Anyways I'm thinking about creating an XP partition and installing any offending games on there. I'd still use Win 7 for everything else (and any games that don't give trouble). I'm sure I could figure this out myself, but I thought I'd ask your advice before I really get to it. What are some good re-partitioning programs? I have two drives, should I do this on the drive already containing Win 7? The other drive I mainly use just for data, nothing gets installed there and I'd think putting Windows on it would be a liability and defeat the purpose of having separate drives. Anything else you can think of I'll be glad to hear too.

Never tried it with Win 7 but I did it with Vista for a few people.  Wasn't too hard at all.

Personally, I would just use different HD and edit the bootloader menu somehow (or install GRUB) to be able to select the desired OS while booting up.

Ideally each HD would be bootable and would have their own operating system, so if you hit some problem with, say, Win7 boot selection menu preventing you from booting to XP, you could override and boot directly to the XP hard disk drive, and it would start WinXP bootup instead of Win7 bootloader.

If you do partition the drive, Google up GParted LiveCD.

I had a similar problem with Win7, 64Bit. have a creative x-fi card. I actually had a solutiont to the problem which worked for me, without the need for a dual boot.

Well, I'm using an Asus card here and their solution works, just not all the time. Specifically FEAR and STALKER have issues so.... XP.
