Drag racing with a school bus
It is difficult to understand what happened inside the heads of the people who did this. I haven't seen anything so dumb, awesome and inspiring at the same time for a moment.

What I'm talking about is a drag racing car made in to the hull of a school bus. Yes, you read right - a drag racing car that looks like a school bus. Here's the video evidence:

Just when you think this doesn't make any sense, but is nevertheless extremely cool, one stumbles upon that somebody installed an afterburning jet engine into a truck:

And as if that wasn't enough, here's a version that uses three jet engines:

Eat dust (would it be better to say flames?), firebreathing Lamborghinis

For that I bring you "jumping motorcycles with a double decker bus"

I see your bus and raise it with a Turbocharged Lawnmower!

Seriously, I wish people were half as creative when doing their day work. Constructing these kinds of things requires a) good engineering background or b) trial and error with sufficient safety margins.

I have a bad feeling about this thread (and where it is going to go at this rate)...

Re: Drag racing with a school bus
It's never a canadian airshow until you have a jet firetruck racing a fighter plane:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuY_rdXE77I

Even though that airshow is in america, the ones we have up here are more or less identical (unless the snowbirds are performing, all they do is acrobatics).
Fun while it lasted.

Then bitter.

I feel like I may have seen that Shockwave truck at one of our local air shows years ago.  Can't remember for sure, though.

I've seen that jet truck here at the Nova Scotia air show. it is just as awesome as it is on youtube.

And just when you thought you had seen everything, somebody installs a V8 small block in to a chainsaw.

A 27 liter engine installed into a chassis of Rolls Royce?! Done by a Brit?! And here I thought this stuff comes from USA!

What is that chainsaw even for?

Apparently, someone tried the same thing with a '55 Chevy.  I think it comes off far easier on the eyes than the Beast. :p

Given the rest of the stuff in this thread, is this a trick question or a rhetorical question?

Seriously, how do they get these ideas, let alone the determination to complete them?

A-a-and it seems my countrymen have succeeded in doing something that I think belongs under so dumb but awesome at the same time.

I assume the readers know base jumping with wing suits, the stuff that is done here?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttz5oPpF1Js

Well, it seems somebody figured a way to get sufficient lift from a wing suit to sustain a level flight by attaching rockets to his feet:

Even at the risk of necrothreading,

I was stranded in Central Europe for a week and meanwhile, no-one posted anything related here?

Come on people, I know you have found something similar from the web. Please post it here, the trend seems to be it has to be extraordinarily dumb yet awesome at the same time, showing that any one can learn engineering maths, at least by given enough time for experimentation.

Have you ever wondered what happened if you mixed ferromagnetic (=substance showing heavily magnetic behavior) with oil and turned on a magnet nearby? Well, wonder no more, here's a demonstration:
