Guerrilla/Revolution/Insurgent Genre
Besides RF:G and Freedom Fighters, does anyone know of any other titles that would fit under the revolution/guerrilla genre?
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

Eh... not sure if Mercenaries counts or not. Definitely has a one-man-army feel to it.

I think Far Cry (1 & 2, but 1 is better) qualify.

Re: Guerrilla/Revolution/Insurgent Genre
I saw something on Mod Database by the title of "Iron Grip," which looked heavily influenced by Warhammer 40K. Unfortunately, it's available Steam-only.

Just Cause and its sequel seem to fit the bill.

There is that Source mod Insurgency, but it's about as asymmetrical as my handsome, handsome face (which is to say, not at all).
I will ask that you explain yourself. Please do so with the clear understanding that I may decide I am angry enough to destroy all of you and raze this sickening mausoleum of fraud down to the naked rock it stands on.

Re: Guerrilla/Revolution/Insurgent Genre
crysis is in large part guerrilla.  more or less so depending on your play style.
I like to stare at the sun.

Re: Guerrilla/Revolution/Insurgent Genre
Crysis stops being guerrilla fairly early on, and once you enter the temple all guerrilla tactics go out the window in favor of conventional warfare.

Re: Guerrilla/Revolution/Insurgent Genre
There are two different things you guys are talking about here, games where the player is an insurgent in the story and games having guerilla-like gameplay. The games in the OP are of the former type, while Far Cry 1 is a good example of the latter.

Re: Guerrilla/Revolution/Insurgent Genre
If that's the case, then Nuclear can go back in time and play the other two Red Faction games.  You can grab them cheap on Impulse.

How far are you willing to bend the definition for guerrilla or revolution? ;)

From the top of my mind Jagged Alliance I & II. Syndicate to some extend. Commandos - Behind the enemy lines also.

Saboteur might work also for you. I think I saw a title called "Tropico III" in the local game shop too, the player character was called "El Presidente" in a banana republic...

I bet there is a bunch of legendary games I didn't mention here. All from the 90's, they don't make revolution/guerrilla games too well nowadays.

Re: Guerrilla/Revolution/Insurgent Genre
A ridiculously-fun little game called Total Overdose is kind of guerrilla-ish in plot...only in the sense that it combines every Mexican-gunfighting/druglord-movie trope under the sun into a single awesome package. :p
