I recently purchased freespace 2 and tried to setup fso.  I kept getting the opengl w32 pixel error.  Followed the troubleshooting with no luck.
  Turns out this card needed .net framework 3.5 to work.  I ended up finding it on some random search, but it took me a few days.
This is just a heads up for anyone searching make sure your .net is updated with newer ati cards.  Especially if you dont do auto updates for windows, this was an xp install btw.
If you run opengl extension viewer you will see windows is not recognizing your hardware opengl drivers.

Okay, so your issue was that your drivers were not installed correctly?

nope drivers were good just didnt work without 3.5.  I guess you could say drivers but windows not supporting opengl it was the last place i looked.

Uh, since the various versions of .NET Framework are available via Windows Update (at least on XP), you should really get them from there, instead of some shady places on the Internet.
