OK now we need people to make up for 18 hours of posts in then next 15 minutes.  GD still doesn't count and they have to be meaningful.  I need something to read.
No-one ever listens to Zathras. Quite mad, they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He's even grown to like it. Oh yes. -Zathras

Broken network cable caused this downtime. Apparently the cable worked to a point it showed up as plugged-in, but did not transmit any data.

that certainly explains why the problem was somewhat intermittent. you get the main page to load and then it would stall out again. its unusual for a cable to just up and die on you though. unless you have cats.
I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

Silly series of tubes.
Ted Stevens wasn't around to maintain them.

Too soon?

At least that's still better than a :v: employee tripping over the PXO network cable every weekend. :p

Notice how there was no mad rush to sectorgame this time......
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside
