BluePlanet machine specs
Hey all,

I just downloaded BP:WiH but it's running really slow; I don't think it's my system, but  just to get a reality check I want to see what machine specs everyone is running...

Mine is:
AMD Athlon64 4000+
2GB RAM
GF 7950GT AGP
SB Live!

I never had this problem playing BP:AoA, although this was obviously on an older SCP+MediaVP combos.

I've tried disabling every advanced .VP (mediavp, mediavp2, bp, bp2), disabling special effects, setting the in-game detail options to 1, and it still runs like crap (And looks hideous to boot.. the starfield looks especially bad )

I have a feeling it's a problem with some weapons effect or something. For instance, in the first mission things are initially fine, but as the battle gets under way the game bogs down into the single fps area, but once the battle's over it's all fine again!

Blame the horribly optimized Steve-O models. Just turn your settings back up and try to avoid looking at them.

We're working on fixes.

Re: BluePlanet machine specs
Yeah, turning down the Texture quality settings will not do much for performance. The problem, as Battuta said, are the models that are just not very well optimized for in-game usage.

Ahh... maybe I can fly in a sort of reverse geostationary orbit around the problem ships or something  :nervous:

It's a damned good thing you guys implemented reverse afterburning I guess

Re: BluePlanet machine specs
I have THIS
Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 2.60 GHz over-clocked from 200Hz to 210Hz for a grand total of 2.72 GHz
ATI Radon HIS-built X1650 512MB DDR2
2 GB of Ram (800Hz?)
Creative :D Sound Blaster LIVE! EC00 5.1 Dolby SS with ye-old Joystick port and THE MIDI FONT USED FOR DESCENT
and and a ass-load of fans 5in out(next to cpu) 2in in (on case side) and a HUGE fan on my CPU. runs at about 28C even when playing WiH on full graphics (FS2 INGAME options and FSO features) at 1024x768 (only because my crappy LCD screws with the picture a lot if I run on anything else) with no filtering (useless) on Tri-linear.

I miss my Samsung 720ift Syncmaster. :(
it ran at a massive 2048x1536x32 at 60Hz and was a true flat CRT, plus, it didn't phuck up my graphics. I can't find any that are refurbished! Gorram environmentalists  :headz: :beamz: :snipe:!
